Description
Ammonium persulfate (abbreviation APS), a stable salt of peroxodisulfuric acid, is a strong, easily dosed oxidizing agent and an excellent free radical generator in aqueous media. APS is a colorless, odorless, crystalline powder with the density of 1.98g/cc.
Due to its high purity and low water content, it has good storage stability and enables safe handling. Like many ammonium salts, APS has hygroscopic properties and tends to clump when stored in the open. However, this can be suppressed by adding small amounts of special silicas.
Ammonium persulfate is characterized by its high solubility in water. Due to its high oxidation potential, APS can decompose under unfavorable conditions. The product is not flammable, but has a fire-promoting effect.

Packing
— In 25 kg HDBE paper bags with one PE bag inner
— In 500 kg net big woven bags
— In 1000 kg net big woven bags
Storage
APS is not combustible but assists combustion materials due to release of oxygen, provided it is stored under appropriate condition. It must be stored dry in closed containers and protected from direct sunlight, heat and humidity.
It must not be contact with organic matter, rust, metal and reductant matter in order to avoid catalytic decomposition and explosion.
The product as supplied or in solution needs to be handled with appropriate care. The eye, skin and clothes must be protected when working with APS as damp powder or aqueous solution has a bleaching and slightly corroding effect. Please refer to MSDS for detailed information on Storage and Handling.
